CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Reference: 01/09/2015

Five [5] Year Contract Position

SALARY LEVEL: LEVEL 15


SALARY PACKAGE: R 1 290 633 (Negotiable).


REQUIREMENTS: An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) and a preferably a post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) as recognized by SAQA in Business Management/Administration/ Leadership/Strategic Management or equivalent qualification. Five [5] years’ appropriate experience at senior management level after obtaining the minimum qualification.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide strategic leadership and effective management in the implementation of the Strategic Plan of Boxing SA. This would include the effective utilization of staff, promotion of sound labour practices, sound financial, risk and asset management and the implementation of appropriate measures aimed at the maintenance of discipline. develop the Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and Annual Operational Plan for the approval of the Board of BSA.promote good corporate governance within Boxing SA.promote the development of professional boxing in the Country.manage resources of Boxing SA in accordance with the approved budget including sponsorship funds and in compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and related legislation (applicable laws and policy guidelines).develop for the approval of the Board and to implement policies and procedures necessary for the fulfilment of the mandate of Boxing SA.promote and maintain effective relations and partnerships between Boxing SA and relevant role players and stakeholders.promote the corporate image of Boxing SA (branding) and to serve as the Chief Spokesperson of Boxing South Africa.regularly to the Board with regard to the following:

Operational activities and progress on the implementation of strategic objectives and priorities contained in approved plans. Such reports shall serve before the Board of Boxing SA at quarterly intervals or in specific situations on shorter intervals.the Board to any emerging risks that might prevent the achievement of the performance goals as laid out in the incumbent’s Performance Agreement and approved plans.the Board to any action that might generate substantial media coverage and interest.take such necessary steps and decisions to promote and protect the interest of Boxing SA.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Financial, business and sporting acumen. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, organisational and general management skills. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Ability to coach, mentor and build teams in an enabling environment to achieve common objectives. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

MEMBERS OF THE AUDIT COMMITTEE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Advise Boxing South Africa Board “The Board”, the political office-bearers, the accounting officer and management staff of Boxing South Africa. Review the Annual Financial Statements to provide the Board with an authoritative and credible view of the financial position and performance of the entity, its efficiency and effectiveness and its overall level of compliance with applicable legislation. Respond to the Board on any issues raised by the Auditor-General. Report to the Board quarterly in a format as outlined in the internal audit framework as published by Treasury. Monitor internal audit and risk management function of Boxing South Africa.

PERSONAL SKILLS:

Financial, business and sporting acumen. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, organisational and general management skills. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

The members of the committee should at least meet the following competency requirements:-

  • Have the necessary leadership and personal qualities
  • Have the ability to lead and participate in the discussions.
  • Have a good understanding of the committee position in the governance structure.
  • Have the ability and capability to conduct the Audit Committee affairs efficiently and effectively
  • Have a sound knowledge of issues affecting public entities


Expertise/skills and experience in the following fields as an added advantage:

  • Financial and management accounting
  • Performance management
  • Human Resource management and labour relations
  • Corporate governance
  • Risk management
  • Internal controls and knowledge of public sector legislation
