Boxing South Africa Congratulates Nominees From Our Sector In The South African Sport Awards 2018

BOXING COMMUNITY GETS FOUR NOMINATIONS IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN SPORT AWARDS 2018

In the morning of Friday, 19 October 2018 the Minister of Sport and Recreation South Africa announced nominees in the 13th edition of the South African Sport Awards 2018. These awards are the most supreme recognition and reward program in the entire Sport and Recreation sector of South Africa. These awards  celebrate only the best among the ultimate best and to make it into the finalists aint no walk in the park!

The good news for the boxing community is that we have at least three nominees among the names announced this morning. A cherry of top is that one of those nominees has actually been nominated twice, which then makes it four nominations for our pugilist sport. Our nominees are:

The finalists in the categories where Hekkie Budler and Nic Lourens are nominated will be decided by the adjudication panel. Our fingers crossed as we pray for a positive outcome in favour of these outstanding and deserving nominees from our own ranks!

The recipient in the category where Zolani Tete is nominated will however be decided by the public through a voting process. We therefore urge the entire boxing loving community of South Africa and the world at large to stand by our Champion and vote for him. Details about the voting process are at the end of this statement.

To our nominees, we say, ‘Congratulations gentlemen! You have made us proud. Because of your accomplishment, the boxing sector has a bounce in its step and a smile on its face!!!  Your exceptional talent, your consistent hard work and your unwavering discipline has not only placed you at the echelons of your own sporting code, it has now earned you a spot among the best in the entire sector. The next step is now to deliver that decisive knock-out punch and take the ultimate throne!

We can’t wait for the night of Sunday, 11 November 2018 at Bloemfontein to witness your ascendance to the number one spot at the SA Sport Awards ceremony! We are glad that the national department has announced that the Ceremony will be broadcast live on the SABC and further details will be made public in due course.
